Louisville, KY, United States
Sarah Truman is a young artist residing in Louisville, KY. She graduates from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2-D Design with a focus in painting and minor in Art History this Spring. She seeks to be an educator and advocate for the Arts and will be teaching Art at a summer program beginning in June. Her work is predominately figurative, but not limited to the figure. She considers herself a realist and is currently experimenting with new conceptual ideas concerning water, fabric, and the figure along the themes of baptism and purification. After the completion of her Spring 2012 Show "The Dichotomy of Masking" she is excited to move toward a new direction with her work with a new color palette and subject matter. "As a painter, there is a peace and a calm once that brush dips into the pigment and skates along the surface. The act of painting, for me, is like a release, a dynamic push pull...theraputic, yet riveting." The true purpose of art is the same as the true purpose of anything: it is not for ourselves or for our own self-expression, but for the service of others and the glory of God." -Philip Graham Ryken
